  7. These release notes cover what is new in VirusScan 2.2.8 and the
  8. December DAT release (9512) of VirusScan for DOS, VirusScan for
  9. Windows, VirusScan for OS/2, VirusScan for Windows 95, VirusScan
  10. for NT and VShield.

  16.    You will need VShield 2.2.8 in order to use these DAT files with
  17.    VShield for DOS.

  21. New features for VirusScan 2.2.8 and OS/2 Scan 2.2.8:
  22.  
  23. /CLEAN /FORCE
  24. When confronted with a boot sector virus, /CLEAN /FORCE tells
  25. VirusScan to forcibly remove the virus using its generic remover 
  26. capabilities.  For MBR infecting viruses, this is similar to the
  27. use of FDISK /MBR.
  28.  
  29. /NODOC
  30. In 2.2.7, we introduced .DOT and .DOC into the default list of files
  31. checked when you run Scan.  /NODOC forces DOT and DOC files not to be
  32. checked.  Some of our users requested this flexibility.

  34. /CONTACTFILE
  35. Display contents of <filename> when a virus is found.  Previously it
  36. worked only for viruses found during disk scan.  Now, it also applies
  37. to viruses found during memory scan.

  42.  
  43.    Creating a Clean Boot Disk:
  44.    When creating a clean OS/2 boot disk, it is necessary to copy the file
  45.    NLS.DLL to the disk as well as OS2SCAN.EXE and *.DAT.
  46.  
  47.    The file NLS.DLL is part of standard OS/2.  The path where it can be 
  48.    found is: \OS2\DLL\NLS.DLL

  52. About Macro viruses...
  53.  
  54. Included in this ZIP file is a self-extracting archive, MVTOOL10.EXE,
  55. being distributed by Microsoft.  It is a way to protect yourself against
  56. the Concept virus, as well as to warn you against document files that
  57. contain macros without your knowledge.
  58.  
  59. To make use of it, execute the program:
  60.  
  61.     MVTOOL10.EXE    40732  bytes
  62.  
  63. It will create these files:

  68. Enter Word and read the README.DOC to see if the package is suitable
  69. for your environment.
