Metamorphic rocks are formed when other types of rock are subject
to stresses generated within the crust and mantle and are also
heated both generally and by the large scale intrusion of magma.
Metamorphic rocks have a large range of textures,
structures and mineralogies, because of the range of
temperatures and pressure and the variety of possible
rocks from which they were formed.
