  4.      Personal Lawyer is a software program developed under the supervision of
  5. California attorney Douglas P. Jacobs.  While it is aimed primarily toward the
  6. average person, it can also be used by paralegals, attorneys and legal
  7. secretaries.
  8.      It lets you create binding legal documents using any PC and printer. 
  9. These documents include promissory notes, real estate leases, wills, special or
  10. general powers of attorney, and statements of guardianship.
  11.      The completed documents are legal in 49 states and the District of
  12. Columbia.  Louisiana is the exception because its legal system is based largely
  13. on French rather than English law.
  14.      The program is easy to use, and it does most of the work for you.  After
  15. selecting the document you require, you answer specific questions.  Additional
  16. questions appear, depending upon your typed responses.
  17.      Personal Lawyer then constructs appropriate legal language around the
  18. facts you supply.  Upon completion, you are ready to print it.  Virtually all
  19. printers are supported, including laser printers.
  20.      The manual contains full explanations of each type of document.  The legal
  21. professional will probably not have to bother reading these.  However, "Star
  22. Wars" fans will enjoy reading the printed "last will and testament of Han
  23. Solo."
  24.      Personal Lawyer also includes 30 pre-printed document envelopes.  The
  25. suggested list price is an affordable $59.95.
  26.      A company spokesman said that future programs will allow the creation of
  27. additional types of documents.
