PROGRAM: SYSCHECK -- Short and Sweet Info on System
AUTHOR: ??????
REGISTRATION: Public Domain Assumed
WHERE FOUND: Electronic Communications
RESTRICTIONS: none
RATING: 8.0
VALUE: S (P)oor - (A)verage - (S)uper
Comparisons are always inevitable. PS2s to MACs, PCBoard to RBBS, Reagan to
Stallin, and Mom to your Wife. That's why I want to say this before I
start: SYSCHECK is not a replacement for SYSID. If SYSID were a complete
diagnostic check of your car, then SYSCHECK is a look over by a service
station attendant.
USE: SYSCHECK is unencumbered by options; just type SYSCHECK.
What you are presented with is a bevy of information in just five
screens. Not as detailed as SYSID, these screens only touch on high
level equipments, and never really go into the bits and bytes of the
machine.
So why am I glowing about this program? 33K of security. Quickly and
accurately you can pull up an equipment listing of what is on your PC
without the details. (This is great for bringing along to a used
computer show)
The only problem I encountered concerned the graphic board selection.
It would not recognize my VGA, so it bumped me down to an EGA.

Lack of documentation, and the missing ability to detect VGA hurt SYSCHECK.
It pulled through with accurate, fast information gathering.
