This way they cannot be mixed-up with the normal-threaded oxygen regulators. Imagine the problems that could be created if the low-pressure acetylene regulator was attached to the 2000 psi oxygen bottle. ~ text 324 5 622 87 Another reason not to mix up the parts: Oxygen by itself does not burn, it only enhances burn- ing. Acetylene by itself burns with a low-temperature, smoky fire. But mixed together, they potentially explosive.
