- Warm up the right-hand edge
- of the steel where the cut is to
- start with the torch tip about
- 1/4" away.

- When you see the corner of the
- steel pieces start to liquefy,
- press the cutting lever fully
- and move rapidly and smoothly to
- the left keeping the torch tip
- only 1/4" away. If you move too
- slowly, the cut may fill back
- in with liquid steel. If you
- move too fast or if you are too
- shaky, the leading edge of the
- cut will cool off and cease to
- ignite more steel. This is how
- cutting works, steel combines
- with oxygen creating enough heat
- to melt more steel.
