  2. THREE WAYS TO FIX A FLAT

  4.      There are three ways to fix a
  5. flat  tire.  You  can  replace the
  6. whole  inner tube,  which is  more
  7. reliable    than    another   way,
  8. patching it. Patching is cheaper,
  9. the patch  kit is easier  to carry
  10. than  a  whole  tube  and you have
  11. more than  one patch, in  case you
  12. have another flat.
  13.      The third way is the easiest.
  14. There  are   various  liquids  and
  15. foams  made that  you squirt  into
  16. the inner tube  through the valve.
  17. They  seal leaks  by clogging them
  18. up. Sealants can  be put into your
  19. tires before you  have a puncture,
  20. as a  preventive  measure.  But we

  24. have found them  to have less than
  25. 50% success rate.  Sealants are at
  26. their  best in  cases of  numerous
  27. small  punctures, such  as running
  28. over  thorn  bushes.  They  seldom
  29. work with large holes.

  31.         PATCHING THE TUBE

  33.      Put lots of air into the tube
  34. until  it is  twice regular  size.
  35. The  hole should  be noticeable by
  36. now, but  if not, you  can put the
  37. whole  tube under  water and  look
  38. for  bubbles  coming  out.  If the
  39. hole is small, you  can mark it by
  40. poking  in with  a screwdriver  it
  41. make it larger.
