  10.   Since 1975, most  manufacturers
  11. have done away with  what was the
  12. conventional point/condenser dis-
  13. tributor.  The newer  systems are
  14. now all electronic  distributors. 
  15. They require very little in main-
  16. tence and have been a real factor
  17. in better running automobiles.     
  18.   They are not infallible,  coils
  19. and modules can  still  go  kaput
  20. but reliability  is  now  in  our
  21. favor.   The  distributors   have

  28. undergone change  also.  Most  work  on
  29. these is best  left  for professionals. 
  30. Good test equipment is required to test
  31. the various components.                 
  32.   You should limit  your  inspection of
  33. these distributors to watching that all
  34. the sparkplug  wires  are in  place and
  35. seem to be in reasonably good shape (no
  36. obvious cracks, black streaks, etc.)    
  37.   Check to see the hold down screws are
  38. tight but don't apply too much pressure
  39. as the cap can be easily cracked.
