  4.   Got it open?  Good!  Now look at  the
  5. hodge-podge of hoses, wires & boxes  in
  6. front of you!  Good gosh Gertie!  Don't
  7. despair . . . we'll explain some of the
  8. items to you . . . at least the ones we
  9. will be checking.                      
  10.   The first monstrous thing we  see  is
  11. the valve cover . . . the  top  of  the
  12. engine.  In front  of that, a radiator. 
  13. Just below the radiator cap you'll  see
  14. a small hose running to a plastic water
  15. container.  This is  an expansion tank. 
  16. (Check the radiator drawing to see  the
  17. expansion reservoir).

  20.   This reservoir is  where  you  will
  21. check the water level.  NEVER open  a
  22. radiator cap if the water is hot! You
  23. will probably be scalded!   There  is
  24. no need to open the cap unless  there
  25. is work to be done.  ALWAYS check the
  26. water level  in the  expansion  tank.  
  27. Keep it between the two marks .  .  .
  28. at the hot mark if you have  been  on
  29. the road and at the cold mark if  the
  30. car has not been started for  several
  31. hours.  Add water if required to this
  32. reservoir only.  We'll get into leaks
  33. a little later on.
