  6.     It is easy to forget that the constantly concertizing LIONEL
  7. HAMPTON is 84. In May the jazz world got a scary reminder.
  8. Performing in Paris, the vibraphone virtuoso was overcome by
  9. dizziness. The diagnosis: exhaustion. Hampton was back in the
  10. swing last week, jamming with other jazz greats at Manhattan's
  11. Lincoln Center. In August he flies to Houston for a gig as a
  12. Republican delegate. "Music gives me life. I'm creating all the
  13. time."
