  7.     Before NASA's newest shuttle Endeavour finally lifted off
  8. last week, maintenance technicians had plenty of
  9. troubleshooting to do. The $2 billion ship arrived at the
  10. Kennedy Space Center looking pretty enough, but beneath
  11. Endeavour's sleek exterior lay more than 2,000 problems,
  12. including a defective set of main engines. And wedged among the
  13. tangle of dangling wires, hydraulic pipes and contaminated water
  14. lines was one moldy Oreo cookie.
