  7.     Seems President Reagan wasn't the only world leader with
  8. operatives in THE VATICAN. A story making the rounds in Europe
  9. has it that the kgb planted a mole in the Holy See. Boris
  10. Alexandrovitch Solomatin, the KGB's Rome chief from 1976 to
  11. 1982, claims that Soviet intelligence viewed the Vatican as a
  12. hotbed of diplomatic secrets. Trouble was, once the KGB had
  13. recruited its St. Peter's agent, it had a little difficulty
  14. controlling him: apparently his religious convictions interfered
  15. with his supersecret political mission.
