  7.     Mikhail Gorbachev probably doesn't realize just how much
  8. help he got from Ted Turner in fending off last summer's coup
  9. d'etat. Addressing independent filmmakers in Santa Monica,
  10. Calif., the hyperactive Atlantan informed a stunned audience
  11. that his decision to present Gone With the Wind in Soviet
  12. theaters changed the course of history. "It's a strong antiwar
  13. film," explained Turner. "I just think it had something to do
  14. with the fact that people there chose not to have a massive
  15. civil war."
