  4.     DIED. Paul Freund, 83, a leading authority on constitutional
  5. law; in Cambridge, Mass. Freund, who taught at Harvard Law
  6. School for 37 years, helped sensitize generations of lawyers to
  7. the Constitution's protection of individual liberties. When
  8. Freund passed up the opportunity to become the U.S. Solicitor
  9. General in favor of scholarship, President John F. Kennedy
  10. replied, "I'm sorry. I hoped you would prefer making history to
  11. writing it."
