  5. actor of 1930s Hollywood movies; of a lung ailment; in
  6. Sarasota, Fla. While visiting the U.S. with his aunt,
  7. Bartholomew was offered the title role in the 1935 film David
  8. Copperfield, which made him an overnight star. Roles in such
  9. classics as Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936) and Captains
  10. Courageous (1937) followed, but by the early '40s his acting
  11. career had begun to decline, and after a stint as a daytime TV
  12. show host he eventually became an advertising executive.
