  6.     After all the fuss over possible POWs in Russia and Vietnam,
  7. a U.S. Senator just back from Pyongyang says hundreds of American
  8. servicemen captured during the Korean War were sent to China and
  9. never returned. Bob Smith, a New Hampshire Republican, vice
  10. chairman of the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs,
  11. said, "Every single Korean official we talked to confirmed" that
  12. U.S. prisoners of war had been sent to China. "They weren't
  13. returned," he said. Beijing has repeatedly denied that China
  14. kept any American POWs except for 21 who asked to stay.
