  8.        Hello and welcome to  the  WinPak#1  Version 1.1 software package
  9.        from Rhode Island Soft Systems, Inc.!
  10.    
  11.        This package contains eight unique, custom designed screen  saver
  12.        modules  for  use  with  Windows  3.1.   This package contains an
  13.        automated installation utility that should be used to install the
  14.        screen saver modules.
  15.        
  16.        Most of the files in  this  package  are compressed using the DOS
  17.        "COMPRESS" and "EXPAND" utilities.  The compressed files end with
  18.        an   underscore   on   the   distribution   diskette,   such   as
  19.        "WINPAK1A.SC_".   The  installation  program  will  automatically
  20.        uncompress these files.

  22.        The eight screen saver modules themselves must  be  installed  in
  23.        the  main  Windows  directory,  such as "C:\WINDOWS", or whatever
  24.        that directory is on  your particular computer.  The installation
  25.        program  will  ask  for  this  directory  upon   start-up.    The
  26.        documentation  and  other  ancillary  files  will  be placed in a
  27.        sub-directory  called   "WINPAK#1",   below   the   main  Windows
  28.        directory.   If  you  specify  "C:\WINDOWS"   as   your   Windows
  29.        directory,  then  the  documentation  files  will  be  copied  to
  30.        "C:\WINDOWS\WINPAK#1" for example.

  32.        The  following  information will guide you through installing the
  33.        WINPAK#1 files.  Once installed, the  SETUP program will create a
  34.        program group and install  icons  for  the  documentation  files,
  35.        which you can read by clicking on the document's icon.

  39.                              VERIFICATION OF FILES

  42.        At this point, please look  for  all  of the files that belong to
  43.        the WinPak#1 package.  All of the files are listed  in  the  file
  44.        PACKING.TXT If the PACKING.TXT file or any of the files listed in
  45.        PACKING.TXT  are  missing, please contact us for an official copy
  46.        of WinPak#1 -- it would not  be  fair to either the user or Rhode
  47.        Island Soft Systems, Inc.  to have a user evaluate an  incomplete
  48.        package.

  60.                               INSTALLING WINPAK#1
  61.                               -------------------

  63.        WinPak#1  is shipped with a comprehensive installation program to
  64.        automate traditional installation.  To install WinPak#1, you must
  65.        be in the Windows environment.   To  install WinPak#1 we will use
  66.        the SETUP program supplied as part of the package.

  68.        From Program Manager's main window,  select  "File".   This  will
  69.        cause  a menu to drop down.  Next, select "Run...".  A dialog box
  70.        will pop up requesting a "Command Line".
  71.        
  72.        If the WinPak#1 files are  on  a floppy disk, insert the diskette
  73.        into  the  A:  or  B:  drive,  as  appropriate  and  type  either
  74.        "A:\SETUP" or "B:\SETUP",  respectively.   We  must  execute  the
  75.        "SETUP" program that is located on the floppy disk.

  77.        If  the  WinPak#1 files are in a directory on a hard drive, enter
  78.        the full drive and directory path to where the WinPak#1 files are
  79.        located, such as: "C:\DOWNLOAD\TEMP\SETUP".

  81.        Please note that these are just examples -- the directories names
  82.        and  drives  will  certainly  be  different  for  each individual
  83.        computer.  The above examples are for illustrative purposes only.

  85.        After entering the command to execute SETUP, press the ENTER  key
  86.        or click on the "OK" button.

  88.        At this point SETUP will handle the entire process of installing
  89.        the WinPak#1 files.

  91.        To activate the screen savers, we must first  select  the  "Main"
  92.        group in Program Manager.  Next, select the "Control Panel" icon.
  93.        Finally,  within  Control  Panel, select the "Desktop" icon.  The
  94.        "Screen Saver" portion of  the  dialog  box  will now contain the
  95.        WinPak#1 modules in  the  list  of  Screen  Saver  "Names".   The
  96.        WinPak#1  modules  can  be  easily identified as they are labeled
  97.        with "WP=>".
