OCR: CHRONOLOGY MAY 3, 1898 Bom Golda Mabovich, in Kiev, Ukraine. 1906 Emigrates with family to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the U.S. 1921 Emigrates to Palestine with husband Morris Meyerson. 1928 Elected to the women's labor council of Histradut (General Organization of Jewish Labor). 1934 Becomes secretary of Histradut's executive committee. JUNE 1948 Becomes Israeli ambassador to the U.S.S.R. JUNE 17, 1956 Appointed Israeli foreign minister as "Golda Meir," after having adopted the Hebrew name earlier in the year. MARCH 17, 1969 Takes oath of office to become prime minister. APRIL 10, 1974 Resigns following Arab-Israeli war of 1973. DECEMBER 8, 1978 Dies in Jerusalem at age 80.
