OCR: CHRONOLOGY APRIL 22, 1870 Bom Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, in Simbirsk (now Ulyanovsk), Russia, son of a schoolmaster. MAY 20, 1887 His brother Alexander is executed for his part in a plot to assassinate Czar Alexander III. DECEMBER 21, 1895 Imprisoned for 15 months for revolutionary activity. FEBRUARY 10, 1897 Sentenced to three years' exile in Siberia, where he starts writing under the name Lenin. JULY 1900 Leaves Russia and starts the revolutionary newspaper Iskra. NOVEMBER 17, 1903 Forms the Bolshevik party from the breakup of the Social Democratic Labor party. APRIL 16, 1917 Returns to Russia after the March 1917 revolution. NOVEMBER 1917 Organizes the Bolshevik revolution. Becomes first chairman of the Council of People's Commissars. JANUARY 21, 1924 Dies in Gorky, Russia, of a stroke.
