OCR: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ Kelly, Grace Grace Kelly One of the most glamorous Hollywood stars of the 1950s, Grace Kelly exuded ice-cool elegance in films like Alfred Hitchcock's "Dial M for Murder" and "Rear Window" (both 1954). In an era of padded bras and false eyelashes, Kelly's appeal owed much to her "natural" yet aloof image. Daughter of second-generation Irish immigrants, she cultivated a slight British accent that gave her an air of sophistication. An ambitious yet insecure woman, famous for love affairs with her leading men, she spent much of her life trying to impress her father, Jack, a self-made millionaire and rowing champion. She appeared in only 11 films - winning an Oscar for best actress in 1955 - before giving up acting to marry Prince Rainier III of Monaco, whom she Grace Kelly, met while filming "To Catch a Thief." Her fairy- U.S. film star, 1929-82 tale wedding was an international media event, with 1,800 journalists crowding into the tiny Mediterranean principality. In 1982 Princess Grace died in a car crash. Her 17-year-old daughter Princess Stephanie was also injured in the accident. CHRONOLOGY
