  1.                 PATTERN PRO V 2.0 DEMO PROGRAM

  3.         System requirements IBM PC or compatible 386 or higher
  4. running Windows 3.0 or greater.
  5.  
  6.         Pattern Pro was developed to give a knitter, 
  7. using Windows, the ability to create patterns on a computer
  8. and be able  to download the pattern to a laser printer in 
  9. the form of printout that is acceptable by the Passap E-6000 
  10. card Reader.  Experimentation on inkjet and matrix printers 
  11. will be necessary to determine if they are compatible with
  12. the E-6000 Reader.  It appears that by making a 1:1 scale 
  13. xerographic copy of the inkjet printout provides an 
  14. acceptable pattern sheet for the Reader.  The ink used in the
  15. inkjet printers is not compatible with the sensor in the Reader.

  18.         The demo program of Pattern Pro will enable a user to
  19. check out the compatability of their system from computer to
  20. printer to the Passap E-6000 reader.
  21.  
  22.         After unzipping the program files, preferably in a
  23. temporary directory by themselves, double click on the file
  24. SETUP.EXE.  The installation program will begin the
  25. installation.  Once the installation is complete simply 
  26. double click on the newly created icon and the Pattern Pro
  27. program will execute.

  29.         The program consists of three screens. The first
  30. screen is just an introduction page.  The second screen is
  31. the main working screen.  This screen is a grid That replicates
  32. the format of the E-6000 pattern card.  The knitter can then
  33. begin to develop a pattern.  Double clicking with the left
  34. mouse button will place a colored "Square" in a cell.
  35.   It is also possible to select a group of cells by pressing
  36. down the left button and holding while dragging across a 
  37. series of cells and releasing.  Then one click of the rig 
  38. button will fill the selected cells with "Squares".  
  39. Pattern Pro can place three different colored squares (four
  40. if you count white) on the pattern grid.  White is the back-
  41. ground color.  Black is the second color square.  Green is 
  42. the third color square, and Violet is the fourth color square.
  43. Pattern Pro V 2.0 provides the capability to develop four color
  44. patterns.  The program will print out the three Reader sheets 
  45. necessary for the four color pattern.

  47.         The demo program is a working program but some of the
  48. features are not enabled. For example, the all-up version of
  49. Pattern Pro has the capability to import patterns that have
  50. been previously created and saved.  It also has the capability
  51. to export the pattern as a bitmap file.  A bitmap file can
  52. then be viewed and altered by paint programs.

  54.         The third screen displays the whole pattern as it will
  55. be printed.  
  56.  
  57.         The demo program active region for printing a pattern
  58. is limited to the first 10 rows and 10 stitches(10 grid Columns
  59. by 10 grid rows) as well as the 11 cells in cols A,B and C 
  60. which are the control columns on the E-6000 pattern card. The
  61. entire grid will print out.  Trim around the "Trim Line" and 
  62. CAREFULLY ALIGN on an E-6000 card. Tack in place with magic tape
  63. and place in carrier jacket.  Insert in reader and read. One
  64. caution, be careful not to cover any of the blocks with the 
  65. magic tape. Just a small piece is all that is necessary.
