  2.   Holiday "Felt" Country Patchwork Tree Skirt
  3.  
  4. Materials Needed.-
  5.  
  6.  1 square yard (36 x 36) red/gold pin dot Fancy Felt
  7.  4 - 9 x 12 rectangles of kelly/silVer pin dot
  8.   and 9-9 x 12 rectangles of white/gold dashes
  9.   Fancy Felt
  10.  5 1/2 yards gold metallic jumbo rick rack
  11.  2 2/3 yards kellY green gold metallic 3/8"
  12.   ribbon (or substitute kellY grosgrain ribbon)
  13.  bottle of tacky glue
  14.  hot glue gun
  15.  ruler
  16.  medium tip black permanent marker
  17.  
  18. Take a 36" x 36" Square Of red/gold pin dot Fancy Felt
  19. and lay it flat on table so the back side is up. Using a
  20. long straight edge, make a small X in center of square
  21. by laying a straight edge across center from corner to
  22. the opposite corner.
  23.  
  24. Next mark slit line from center mark to center of one
  25. side. This should be 18" from each end.
  26.  
  27. Now mark. 8" in on both sides of each 4 corners. Draw
  28. a line from each mark and trim away corner fabric along
  29. these lines.
  30.  
  31. Tie a piece of string to marker. Hold end of 3" of string
  32. on center mark and draw a 6" diameter circle. Trim
  33. fabric away and then cut along line to center of one side
  34. for slit.
  35.  
  36. On back side of white/gold dot Fancy Felt draw six 8"
  37. squares. Draw a diagonal line from one corner to opposite
  38. one to create triangles. Cut out 12 of these. Using the same
  39. method mark six 6" squares = 12 triangles.

  41. From kelly/silver pin dot Fancy Felt cut:
  42.                      six 6" squares = 12 triangles
  43.                      six 4" squares = 12 triangles
  44.  
  45. One at a time, tacky glue back side of kelly triangles and
  46. press in center of front side of larger size white triangles.
  47.  
  48. Once all triangles are layered, lay out triangles on front
  49. side of tree skirt. It is important to accurately lay these
  50. pieces out and make any adjustments at this time. Once you
  51. are satisfied, begin tacky glueing back side of layered triangles
  52. One at a time and press then in place in overlapping positions.
  53. Once all triangles are pressed in place in tree pattern
  54. cut through tree covering skirt slit, Cut should be
  55. through top part of triangles.
  56.  
  57. Trim skirt by hot gluing gold metallic jumbo rick rack
  58. all around edge starting at slit and tucking ends under
  59. at slit. Repeat around edge of skirt hole and around back
  60. of triangle square sunrounding hole.
  61. Add 8 bows made from 12" lengths of ribbon hot glued to tops
  62. of trees.
