Re: Mini QBE for October
In keeping with the season I have decided to request the Maple Leaf block.
______________________________________ A & D are the leaf
| \ | |\ | E is the stem and is
|\ \ F | | \ C | appliqued to an F square
| \ \ | A | \ | C & F are background (sky)
row | \ E \ | | \ |
1 | \ \| | D \ |
| \ | | \ | Including 1/4" seam allowance
-------------------------------------- A & F will be 2 1/2" squares
| | |\ | C & D will be
row | | | \ C | 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 x 4 1/16
2 | A | A | \ | E is 1" wide with allowance
| | | \ | resulting in a 1/2" wide stem
| | | D \ | after turning. The drawing |
| | \ | does not show it but the length
-------------------------------------- wise center goes from corner
|\ |\ | | to corner.
row | \ D | \ D | |
3 | \ | \ | |
| \ | \ | F |
| C \ | C \ | |
| \| \| |
--------------------------------------
The leaves are to be autumn shades of rust, brown, orange, yellow or forest
green, either print, plaid or solid and can be mixed.
The background (sky) can be white, cream, light blue or black. These can be
prints or solids. If a print make sure that it does not overpower the leaf so
that it shows up and not the leaf. Again, it can be mixed.
To assemble block--sew the four leaf triangles to four sky triangles.
Applique the seaf stem to one sky color square.
Assemble rows 1, 2 and 3 separately then to each other.
This block was shown in American Patchwork & Quilting, Oct. 1993
(I reduced)
Please let me know if anyone needs a copy.
I'm so excited about this!!
