  3. Personal Patterns sewing software

  5. I've been using the software for about a year and a half for myself
  6. and my clients. The basic Personal Patterns 2.0 (demo available for
  7. $10.00) has numerous bodice configurations (too numerous to list),
  8. straight skirt, high-waisted skirt and A-line (which can be changed
  9. to full flared); straight trousers, pleated trousers and another
  10. which I've forgotten--in other works all that you need to make most
  11. designs. It has standard sizes for women
  12. (6-44), men (full range also) and children (needless to say, the
  13. childrens' patterns are different) from infant to large-sized teen.

  15. In the last month, Personal Patterns has released "Jackets" , a
  16. description of which I posted on AOL, as follows:

  18. .................Personal Patterns Jackets (Women's Designer Jackets
  19. and Suits) works exactly like the existing Personal Patterns 2.0
  20. There are over 100 different possible style
  21. combinations--single-breasted, double-breasted, fitted, semi-fitted,
  22. boxy, classic notched collar, tuxedo notched collar, shawl collar,
  23. V-neck (cardigan), jewel-neck (cardigan), convertible collar, slanted
  24. upper welt pocket, straight upper welt pocket, upper patch pocket, no
  25. upper pocket, straight lower double-welt pocket, lower patch pocket,
  26. no lower pocket, long jacket, short jacket, one-button, two- button,
  27. three-button, four-button, two-button double breasted, four-button
  28. double breasted, two-piece sleeves, etc. etc. Plus, all the skirts in
  29. the regular PersPats and all the trousers. (If you're not interested
  30. in dresses or blouses, this is all that you'd need.) There are lining
  31. patterns and facing patterns for all the configurations. In addition,
  32. there are detailed assembly instructions (including the "easy"
  33. double-welt pocket instructions).

  35. It installed in less than 5 minutes with no tweaking.  I can run it
  36. from Geoworks without shelling out to DOS--there should be no problem
  37. runnning it from Windows. All of the standard women's sizes are
  38. pre-loaded (6 thru 44). I copied over my group of specialized
  39. measurements (I have a separate set for me and my customers). I
  40. selected a pattern (you're given all the variables and options to
  41. choose from to customize your choice) and printed the jacket front
  42. and upper welt pocket. It even has notch marks. No seam allowances,
  43. as before. Laid it out on floor; everything looks fine. Water
  44. Fountain Software recommends that you sew a jacket front, jacket back
  45. and sleeve in muslin to double check your fittings.

  47. BTW, It does not install into the old Persnal Patterns directory.
  48. Creates separate directory (less than 1 meg in size). No colorful
  49. graphic screen display like Dress Shop, just the pattern outline and
  50. construction markings that you need to see. The interface is easy to
  51. use with mouse or not. Same measurements as original Personal
  52. Patterns needed. A little less complex than Dress Shop's measurements
  53. (e.g., the hem point of reference is the waistline, not the floor).

  56. Fit is excellent.  Manual is excellent.  Prints on DM or laser on
  57. regular paper (taped together for pattern).
