  1.                    KNIT ONE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

  3. KNIT ONE provides facilities for entering, saving,  and modifying
  4. project descriptions and knitting instructions, and displaying or
  5. printing  the entered instructions adjusted for different  gauges
  6. or sizes.  In addition to translating gauges and sizes,  KNIT ONE
  7. automatically  translates  measurements  in  inches into rows; an
  8. especially useful feature for machine knitters.
  9.  
  10. KNIT ONE maintains one or more FOLDERS (directories) of PROJECTS.
  11. A Folder typically contains all  of the PROJECTS for one knitter,
  12. although very prolific  knitters  might  want  to  group PROJECTS
  13. under more complex filing systems.

  15. For each PROJECT the knitter enters:
  16.  
  17.     o  A description of the project for filing purposes
  18.     o  Notes about the project,  such  as  needle  sizes, colors,
  19.        etc.
  20.     o  A summary of original and new gauge information
  21.     o  A list of the original sizes described in the pattern
  22.     o  The final desired size  (which  does not have to be in the
  23.        original list)
  24.     o  The knitting instructions for each part.

  26. The instructions for  each  part  are  typed  as  printed  in the
  27. original source; some minor variations  are  required  to control
  28. adjustments KNIT ONE makes.  As the pattern is  typed,  KNIT  ONE
  29. adjusts it and displays the adjusted pattern to the right  of the
  30. original line.  (On a Macintosh, the user can  choose to show the
  31. original  and adjusted patterns side by side  or  one  above  the
  32. other.)  KNIT ONE includes complete  word  processor-like editing
  33. facilities, including insert and delete lines, insert  and delete
  34. characters,  word  wrapping,  and split and join lines.  When all
  35. the instructions have been entered, the adjusted instructions may
  36. be printed.

  39.                        THE KNIT ONE PROGRAM

  41. The KNIT ONE program is used to enter projects into your computer
  42. to be adjusted.  Once entered, projects may  be  saved, modified,
  43. and reprinted.  A project may be entered all at once, or a little
  44. at a time  as your time permits.  KNIT ONE saves your work as you
  45. go.

  47. Extensive HELP information is available at any time  in  the KNIT
  48. ONE program.  Simply press the  HELP  key on your PC keyboard (or
  49. open  the  HELP  window on your Macintosh)  to  display  detailed
  50. instructions on the item you are currently entering.

  53.                     THE KNIT ONE USER'S MANUAL
  54.  
  55. The KNIT ONE User's  Manual  contains  complete  instructions for
  56. starting your  system, loading KNIT ONE, and entering projects to
  57. be  adjusted.  The manual assumes that  you  know  nothing  about
  58. computers; it prompts you through all steps from  turning  on the
  59. computer to printing your adjusted project instructions.

  69.                            WHAT YOU GET

  71. KNIT ONE comes with the KNIT ONE program diskette  and  the  KNIT
  72. ONE  User's Manual.  Two projects are  included  on  the  program
  73. diskette; a SAMPLE project  that  demonstrates  how  projects are
  74. entered, and a MITTENS project that can be used to knit a pair of
  75. mittens in a wide range of and yarns and sizes, infant to adult.

  77. For IBM compatibles, KNIT ONE is  supplied  on either 5 1/4" or 3
  78. 1/2"  double  sided,  double  density, diskettes in MS-DOS/PC-DOS
  79. version 2 and  higher  format.    KNIT ONE is compatible with all
  80. versions  of MS-DOS and PC-DOS including DOS 5.    It  will  work
  81. under the DOS 5  Shell  and  Microsoft  Windows as a "non-windows
  82. application".  For Macintosh, KNIT ONE is supplied on 800K 3 1/2"
  83. diskettes.

  86.                     KNIT ONE TECHNICAL SUMMARY

  88. This section  contains some  additional information for the tech-
  89. cally curious.

  91. KNIT ONE  is a completely self-contained computer program for the
  92. Macintosh, IBM PC, IBM XT, IBM AT, IBM PS/1 and PS/2 and most IBM
  93. compatible personal computers.   The  KNIT  ONE  disk is ready to
  94. insert  into  your  computer  and  use;  there  is  no  setup  or
  95. installation procedure required, and no other software is needed.

  97. KNIT ONE will work with any printer supported by the computer.
  98.  
  99. KNIT ONE can take advantage of additional disk drives and  can be
  100. installed on a hard disk, but they are not required.

  102. KNIT  ONE   is  NOT  copy  protected;  it  is  protected  against
  103. unauthorized copying by U.S. and international copyright laws.
