  5. Small items such as socks, where a seam may be noticeable,
  6. are best worked on circular needles, which is also a good
  7. choice for knitting a headband.

  9. Circular needles can be used for flat work because they
  10. distribute the weight of the work evenly between hands and can
  11. hold more stitches than a single pointed needle.

  13. If you are working from cast on stitches, it is vital before
  14. knitting to make sure the first round of stitches are not twisted
  15. around the neelde; oterwise the work will have to be unraveled.

  17. Place a marker at the end of the cast-on stitches and slip it
  18. before beginning each new round. This enables you to keep
  19. track of the rounds.

  21. Circular needles are usually packaged tightly wound in a
  22. packet. It's easier to smooth them out before using if you
  23. immerse them in hand-hot water for about 5 minutes. Dry the
  24. needles and pull them gently between your fingers.
