Circular Knitting Needle Tips
Small items such as socks, where a seam may be noticeable,
are best worked on circular needles, which is also a good
choice for knitting a headband.
Circular needles can be used for flat work because they
distribute the weight of the work evenly between hands and can
hold more stitches than a single pointed needle.
If you are working from cast on stitches, it is vital before
knitting to make sure the first round of stitches are not twisted
around the neelde; oterwise the work will have to be unraveled.
Place a marker at the end of the cast-on stitches and slip it
before beginning each new round. This enables you to keep
track of the rounds.
Circular needles are usually packaged tightly wound in a
packet. It's easier to smooth them out before using if you
immerse them in hand-hot water for about 5 minutes. Dry the
needles and pull them gently between your fingers.
