  9.   yarn colors needed: white, pink, red, green, buttons for santa eyes,

  11.   santa motif: make 13 (this was for an afghan but can be used for an
  12.   adornment for a stocking)

  14.   row 1: right side: sc in 2nd ch from hook an din each rem ch. ch1, turn
  15.   each row
  16.   row 2: loop st in each sc across(to make loop st, insert hook in st, wrap
  17.   yarn over right index finger, pull yarn thru st, yo and through 2 lps on
  18.   hook).
  19.   row 3:sc in each loop st across
  20.   row 4-10: rep rows 2 and 3, end with loop st row.
  21.   row 11:sc in first 2 loop sts. working on 2sts only, rep row 2 and 3 until
  22.   there are 4 loop st rows, end loop st row. sk 8 sts on row 10, work loop
  23.   st in each of last 2 sts. work as for other side of face.

  77.   join. end off; leave long end for sewing. steam press to same shape as
  78.   santa motif.

  80.   finishing: santa:make small loose white pompoms for eah santa. sew to cap
  81.   tip; sew tip down on green border. sew buttons on for eyes. for nose, with
  82.   pink, ch2, 4sc in 2nd ch from hook. sew into a ball, sew to center of
  83.   face. for mustache, with 32" piece of white, wind end aorund finger 4 or 5
  84.   times, sew to side of face, take a st to just under nose, back to 'curl'
  85.   and back to under nose; take 3 sts to other side of face and make other
  86.   end of mustache same as first. embroider red mouth (split yarn and use 2
  87.   strands) in outline st.
  88.   sew motifs tog 5 x 5 alternating motifs, having santas in all 4 corners.
  89.   border: with green, work 3dc, ch2, 3dc in each corner sp of afghan (ch1,
  90.   dc in next sp) rep around
  91.   fringe: cut red, white and green into 12" strands. using 4 strands of same
  92.   color tog, knot a fringe in every 3rd or 4th sp along top and bottom
  93.   edges.
