  1. Opening of the Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children, Dartmouth 1921.

  3.      The Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children officially opened on June 6, 1921. It was established chiefly through the efforts of ladies from the black community who formed the Ladies Auxiliary for the home. The home provided a place for black children to stay in the community rather than be sent to orphanages in the area operated by whites. It still operates today in a new, modern complex in Dartmouth.
