This is one of the public housing projects where blacks from Africville were relocated in the 1960s. Most blacks were better housed here than they had been in Africville and living conditions certainly improved. One thing that was lost in the move was the community spirit and sense of belonging that had been one of the most attractive things about living in Africville. For this reason, blacks who moved were unhappy with the change.
