  8. ACE is a FreeWare Amiga BASIC compiler which, in conjunction with A68K
  9. and Blink produces standalone executables.

  11. The language defines a large subset of AmigaBASIC but also has many
  12. features not found in the latter such as: turtle graphics, recursion,
  13. SUBs with return values, structures, arguments, include files, a
  14. better WAVE command which allows for large waveforms, external
  15. references, named constants and a variety of other commands and
  16. functions not found in AmigaBASIC.

  18. New features in version 2.0 include: gadgets, three standard requester
  19. types, serial I/O and menus (with optional command-keys for menu
  20. items). New commands and functions for this version include EXIT FOR,
  21. PTAB, SPC, DEF FN, ON ERROR and ERR (these last two handle file and
  22. serial I/O at present). INPUT and PRINT can now be used transparently
  23. for all screen/window combinations.

  25. All user-defined windows are now fully-configurable and may be used in
  26. conjunction with screens as per AmigaBASIC. Window close event
  27. trapping is also a new feature.

  29. In addition to event trapping, ACE now supports WAITing for both menus
  30. and gadgets. Waiting is more operating-system-friendly than event
  31. trapping.

  33. A simple graphical front-end (Integrated Development Environment) is
  34. also provided with the archive. This is written in ACE.
