  8. MemCheck is a program to test your memory for hardware
  9. errors - and to prevent them from affecting your other pro-
  10. grams. It tests each individual memory circuit by attempt-
  11. ing to switch all the bits in memory into the opposite state
  12. then reading them to find out whether they actually have
  13. taken the other value. Thus each bit is toggled and any
  14. hardware errors will be found. After testing the memory is
  15. restored to its original state.

  17. Because fiddling with the whole of the memory would tend to
  18. irritate other programs (to say the least!) all other
  19. programs are paused while it runs.
