  4. This is a textfile reader, or in the words of my RE
  5. teacher, a font scroller. All it does is load in a
  6. textfile and display it in a window, with the option
  7. of flipping through it page by page manually, or
  8. getting the program to do it for you. You can also
  9. save individual pages or the whole document.   
  10. Documents of up to 1386 lines of 76 characters can
  11. be loaded, which is a very long textfile!
  12.  
  13. Once the textfile is loaded, you can edit the text
  14. in the window. This can then be saved as normal.
  15. If you do edit the text, the changes cannot be
  16. undone unless you reload the file.
  17.  
  18. This program is RISC OS 3 only, as I believe that
  19. as RISC OS 2 is no longer made, and most people have
  20. upgraded, it is not worth going to the trouble of
  21. providing 'extra' bits for out-of-date operating
  22. systems. Thus, even attempting to load it on the
  23. old OS will cause an error to occur, luckily not a
  24. fatal one.

  26. Options at the top of the window
  27. --------------------------------

  29. Lefthand : The arrows flip through the pages one
  30.            by one, and you can skip to a specified
  31.            page simply by typing in its number and
  32.            pressing RETURN.
  33.  
  34. Righthand: The alarm clock opens the page turner
  35.            when you click on it.
  36.  
  37.            The disc icon saves the current page to
  38.            disc, using a standard save box.
  39.  
  40.            The textfile icon saves the whole
  41.            document to disc, also using a standard
  42.            save box.
  43.  
  44.            The righthand arrow scrolls to the end
  45.            of the file.
  46.  
  47.            The lefthand arrow scrolls to the
  48.            beginning of the file.

  50. Options in the alarm dialogue box

  53. Delay : Sets up the delay between pages in seconds.
  54.         Write this in the writable icon between
  55.         'Start' and 'seconds'.

  57. Repeat: If turned on then when the turner reaches
  58.         the end of the file it will start again at
  59.         page one.

  61. Start : Starts the whole thing going. Pressing
  62.         RETURN in the writable icon also sets it up.

  64. Iconbar menu
  65. ------------

  67. Info : Leads to a dialogue box giving information
  68.        about the program (e.g. version number).
  69.        Clicking on the icons in here will produce
  70.        instructions on where to find further
  71.        information, and maybe a picture of me as
  72.        well!

  74. Quit : Quits the program. Quite self-explanatory
  75.        really.

  80. Pause   : Pauses the timer.

  82. Continue: Continues the timer. If the timer is not
  83.           paused, it flips to the next page.

  85. Abort   : Cancels the timer altogether.

  95. 1. Functions for printing the current page direct
  96.    to the printer. At the moment, you have to choose
  97.    the 'Save page' option and drag the icon to the
  98.    printer driver. The same goes for the whole file.

  100. 2. Anti-aliased text. I think that will be several
  101.    years ahead somehow, as I haven't a CLUE how to
  102.    handle font menus or anti-aliased icons from C.

  123. Amiga (ugh!) ShareWare market, and so far has only
  124. received half a polo mint for his efforts. I hope
  125. that kind, considerate Archimedes users like you
  126. are a bit less tight-fisted!

  129. list for future upgrades. Your money would cover the
  130. cost of a disc to put it on (about £2 including p&p)
  131. meaning you would get the newer versions much 
  132. quicker than anyone else.
