- alterations in my updates as well ...
-
- Purpose:
- To allow a more permament RamDisc, effected by loading from disc as soon as
- this application is booted, and saving when it is quited (typically by a
- shutdown).
-
- Use:
- Copy !RamDisc² onto a blank floppy, or into the root of your harddisc. You
- could also include it in your bootup sequence. When it is booted or run a ram
- disc will be set up and the saved disc copied into it. This then acts like a
- normal ramdisc until you either quit the RamDisc² task from the task manager,
- or use a shutdown procedure, either the task manager one under RO3 or a PD
- shutdown under RO2. This will cause the ram disc to be saved back to disc.
- Note that when you do shutdown, the ram filer will still tell you that this
- will cause you to lose the data in ramfs; this should be ignored.
- Also, whether by intention or accident, using RO3 shutdown does not either
- wipe ramfs or cause programs to be auto-rebooted, so if you have RO3, it is
- advisable to ensure that your boot sequence includes a command to boot
- !RamDisc², eg: Filer_Boot adfs::IDEDisc4.$.!Boot.!RamDisc².

- V1.01 (August 94) Added recognition for dying RAMFS Filer task :-)
