  1. The programs in this directory may help people switching from FreeNews
  2. to NewsHound.
  3.  
  4. ConvertID  : This converts the freenews id history file into a newshound one
  5. CopyGroups : This appends the freenews subscribed groups to the first newshound
  6.              news file it finds.
  7.  
  8. I recommend the following method if you're switching:
  9.  
  10. Firstly, run FreeNews and pick up any outstanding news
  11.  
  12. Unarchive !Newshound from the Acorn User cover disc archive
  13. (Don't run it yet, though)
  14.  
  15. Drag the copy of !NewsHound in the archive over the one now on your
  16. hard disc.

  18. Double click on !InstTrans in this archive
  19.  
  20. Run !NewsHound from your hard disc, and enter the hostname for your
  21. news server.
  22.  
  23. Quit(if it's running) and reload newsbase
  24.  
  25. Setup the transport as in the main docs
  26. (but don't subscribe to any newsgroups)
  27.  
  28. Quit newsbase again
  29.  
  30. Run ConvertID
  31.  
  32. Run CopyGroups
  33.  
  34. Run newsbase again
  35.  
  36. And everything should now be setup - connect to your ISP and do a
  37. newsfetch with NewsHound.

  41. Hopefully, this should all work fine, but I haven't been able
  42. to test any of this exhaustively. Anyone who has problems should
  43. email me with the details.
