<P>Netplex is supplied with two other applications - <I>SysLog</I> and <I>System</I>. You should copy the System supplied with Netplex over your existing version to merge in the copy of the <I>InetServices</I> module which Netplex needs. The SysLog application should be copied to a writable medium and then run in order to set it up.</P>
<P><B>Only modem users need read the next section, people with permanent Internet connections can <A HREF="#running">skip it</A>.</B></P>
<A NAME="dont"><H2>Don't Panic!</H2></A>
<P>You don't need to hook up to the Internet, and waste your money, purely to configure Netplex. Your Internet software should have some form of script called 'Startup' or 'Connect' which sets up your Internet connection for you. Usually, this can be run and it will set up a basic 'loopback' interface which you can use to run both server and client (i.e. your browser) on the same machine without actually connecting to the Internet.</P>
<P>In order that you can try out Netplex off-line, you should run this script and then run Netplex. If Netplex runs with no errors reported, then you can assume everything is working OK.
<P>(I'm sorry I can't be more specific with these instructions, but the technique varies for each setup).</P>
<A NAME="running"><H2>Running Netplex</H2></A>
<P>Once Netplex is loaded it will install on the left hand side of the icon bar, to the right of any network devices.</P>

<P>Assuming your browser is correctly setup (ensure you have any proxying turned off) you will see this page again, except that it will have been served by Netplex to your browser and will have the URL 'http://localhost/00-start'.</P>

<P>The first document I recommend you read is the <A HREF="a1-gloss">Glossary</A> to familiarise yourself with the terms I have used throughout this documentation. After reading that, I recommend that you use this documentation as a reference, as opposed to reading the whole way through - it's not a terribly exciting read. :-)</P>
