  18. Section 1 - Using Game Base
  19. ===========================

  21. Game Base has been written to complement the GameOn! application from The
  22. ARM Club. With GameOn! installed users of the Acorn Risc PC are able to run
  23. many games which would otherwise not work.
  24.  
  25. In order to load the Game Base application simply double click on the
  26. !GameBase icon. Game Base will then be installed on the icon bar. Clicking
  27. select over the Game Base icon on the icon bar will open the main database
  28. window.
  29.  
  30. Clicking menu over the Game Base window results in the database menu being
  31. displayed. To find a particular game or  application you can do one of four
  32. things. Firstly, you can drag an application icon to the  box in the bottom
  33. left corner of the window. Secondly, you can click on the search icon, or 
  34. select the Search option from the menu, and enter the name of the software
  35. that you are  looking for. Thirdly, you can step through the entries one by
  36. one using the double left and  right arrow icons and, finally, you can go to
  37. a specific record by selecting the Goto option  from the menu and entering a
  38. record number.

  40. To print a copy of the database, load !Printers (this can usually be found
  41. by clicking on the  hard disc icon and double clicking on the Printing
  42. directory in the window that appears on  the screen) and select the Print
  43. option from the database menu.
  44.  
  45. The comment field provides additional information about the compatibility of
  46. some  products. For example, if a game works without Game On! installed, but
  47. runs too fast, a note  to that effect will be shown in the comment field.
  48.  
  49. A few games require small modifications before they will work. If a game
  50. needs to be  modified before it will run and Game On! can carry out that
  51. modification, this will be  detailed in the comment field. Games are
  52. modified by dragging the application icon to the  box in the bottom right
  53. corner of the window.

  55. NOTE : The ARM Club offers no Guarantee that the "Programs" file contained
  56.        within this application is correct in every detail.
  57.        Should you notice any errors within the data contained within the
  58.        database, please send details of them to The ARM Club's FREEPOST
  59.        address (at the bottom of this file) so as we may make the necessary
  60.        corrections.
