- This program runs itself as soon as the Filer displays its icon. So, if
- there's a nice little icon instead of the grotty Acorn 'application' icon,
- DOSCom is active and you can launch into a extravaganza of typing weird and
- wonderful MS-DOS commands at yout friendly Supervisor prompt.
- Oh, I've not explained what DOSCom does. Whoops. Here goes ...
-
- This application simply allows the basic commands used to move around UNIX,
- MS-DOS and AmigaDOS operating systems to be recognised by RISC OS.
-
- For instance, to change directory from the command line in RISC OS you'd
- normally type DIR. However, on a PC you would type CD. Users of FTP on the
- Internet will find that this is commonly used because most (if not all) FTP
- sites are running UNIX which also uses this CD command.
-
- Got it? No? Let's give an example. If you type something like:
-
- CD $.GAMES <Enter>
-
- You would find yourself in the '$.Games' directory of your disc.
-
- DOSCom is currently under development and will support lots more commands in
- future releases which are inevitable. At the moment, the following commands
- are recognised:
-
- CD ----- Change directory
- DEL ------ Delete a file
- CHKDSK --- Verify a disc
- CHDIR ---- Change directory
- RMDIR ---- Delete a directory
- RD ------- Delete a directory (identical to RMDIR)
- DISKCOPY - Floppy to floppy disc copy
- XCOPY ---- Copy files
- C -------- Points to IDEFS::4
-
- Using these commands means that you can type CD C:$ to change to the root
- directory of the hard disc. Not exactly the same as CD C:\ but it's more
- recognisable to the hardened DOS user than DIR IDEFS::4.$.
-
- Unfortunately the more advanced 'switches' that these commands offer in
- MS-DOS are not recognised by DOSCom, so leave them out.
-
-
- Legal: "Oooh, I think I'll let you copy this freely. But remember!
- I don't want to see any files altered or removed. OK?"

-
- In the future, obscure MS-DOS commands will be recognised.
- In the future, DOSCom will take over the world.
- In the future, Bill Gates will become bankrupt.
-
- The future's bright. The future's DOSCom.
