  7. Just for interest: the latest versions of Acorn's
  8. desktop implement translucent solid sprite dragging,
  9. with alternating masked pixels in a chessboard-style
  10. pattern which allows you to see through the solid
  11. sprite to whatever's behind it. This looks really
  12. fantastic.

  14. Remember, you saw this effect first in Charges!!
  15. It was implemented (and looking great) way back in
  16. version 1.00 in 1992, long before anyone at Acorn
  17. thought of it! The effect was subsequently seen in a
  18. (very slow) patch in Acorn User, and then as a well-
  19. implemented effect in Michael Rozdoba's excellent
  20. Desktop+. Then Acorn adopted the standard. I'm very
  21. pleased: I'd have thought it was far too 'cool' for
  22. Acorn to bother with! They've gone up in my
  23. estimation. But it happened here first.
