Define Texture Garden textures
| =======================
|
| This directory contains a large number of demonstration textures designed to
| be used in conjunction with the Texture Garden program. They are all plain
| text files. To examine the textures they produce, load Texture Garden and
| drag the files into its main window.
|
Define Contents : Description
| ~~~~~~~~
Define 3D | These are made by sculpting a surface from a solid block
| of texture. Most of them are designed to tesellate
| seamlessly when wrapped around spheres.
|
Define Dust | These are named after a technique employed in their
| generation. They often look as though they are covered in
| small spots or streaks.
|
Define FFT_xD | Again, named after techniques employed in their generation,
| these demonstrate the main techniques used in texture
| generation by the program. Beginners should start here.
| One dimensional fourier transforms often produce images
| that look wavey, while two dimensional transforms are
| probably the most powerful technique employed, producing a
| gigantic range of impressive patterns which animate in
| interesting ways. However, they cost in germination time,
| especially when grown to large sizes. Please be warned
| that the filenames here do not make much sense yet.
|
Define Filtering | These are some textures that use filtering techniques.
| These are sometimes used to simulate lightsourcing.
|
Define Flowers | A technique quite different to those used in most of the
| other textures currently available with Texture Garden.
|
Define Invariant | These textures do not scale when displayed on different
| scales. This can make them useful as backgrounds.
|
Define Mandala | Textures often employing mirrors or rotation to produce
| symmetrical effects.
|
Define Misc | These textures did not fit into the other categories.
| They are often less aesthetically pleasing.
|
Define WWW | These are just a few of the images that I used in creating
| the web site from which Texture Garden has been made
| available.
|
| Enjoy.
