  4. An EvntShell Demo application to show how an outline font can be
  5. selected using the FontMenu module.
  6.  
  7. Note that as the FontMenu is a 'shared system resource' there is
  8. only one copy of it however many applications may be using it. For
  9. this reason it is important to set it up using a 'preopen'
  10. function as another application may have altered the state of the
  11. menu.
  12.  
  13. In this release of EvntShell the only guarenteed way of opening the
  14. FontMenu is as a 'Popup' menu attached to an icon. Future releases
  15. will implement menus attached to window backgrounds and submenus,
  16. although it may be preferable to use the FontPicker dialog box.
  17.  
  18. The FontPicker differs from the Acorn Style Guide version in a few
  19. respects, partly to make it easier for me and partly to make it
  20. easier for you and your users. I made things easier for myself by
  21. using the FontMenu module to provide the actual menu of available
  22. fonts - consequently there are no separate buttons to select 'weights'
  23. or 'styles'.

  25. There is also no 'Try' button as I spend all day clicking on icons
  26. and if I can avoid clicking on one I will. Hence changing the size
  27. or aspect ratio or indeed the font results in an instant (well almost
  28. instant) display of the new font and settings.

  30. The FontPicker is another example of a quite complex set of routines
  31. that are easy to use and provide a simple service - in this case the
  32. selection of a font name together with the size.

  37. This application is SHAREWARE and is part of the EvntShell library
  38. system. This means that if you make use of EvntShell to write your
  39. own programs you are expected to register your copy which costs
  40. £5.00 or 15Dm.

  42. I do not give any guarantee that it is free of bugs, or supply any
  43. warranty about its suitability for use. However  if there are any
  44. problems with it and you notify me of  them then I will do my best
  45. to rectify them given the time  and the ability.

  47. You may give this application to anyone, via any medium, so long
  48. as it is delivered with ALL the supplied files and unaltered
  49. (except !Run and !Boot).

  51. You have permission to use any part or the whole  application in
  52. any ShareWare/Public Domain project, ONCE YOU HAVE REGISTERED YOUR
  53. COPY, as long as I am fully credited (a sample of the note I would
  54. like included with all applications using EvntShell can be found
  55. in the EvntShell directory called 'HelpText').

  57. If you wish to use these routines in a program that is for sale
  58. (for however much and for whatever reasons) or released as
  59. copyright material then my express permission in writing must be
  60. obtained. I maintain copyright on all the material supplied and
  61. reserve the right to amend these conditions in cases where I deem
  62. misuse.
