  1. The Banner window
  2.  
  3. Using this window you can do one of two things.
  4.  
  5. The first is the option of speeding up the welcome banner and can be done by
  6. setting the 'Speed up welcome banner' option.
  7.  
  8. You will probably have noticed that when the welcome banner is being drawn,
  9. you can see the text being plotted slowly.  This is because when the computer
  10. is switched on the font cache which holds the fonts needed for the plotting
  11. is empty and while it is drawing the banner it is copying data from ROM to
  12. RAM and scaling the fonts to different sizes which is slow but when your
  13. desktop appears all the fonts used will be already calculated and so
  14. EasiBoot takes a snapshot of the font cache and stores it in the boot
  15. program and then just before the welcome banner is shown on start-up it
  16. re-loads this snapshot into the font cache which from a hard disc is very
  17. quick and then when the computer draws the banner all the fonts needed are
  18. already in the cache and it can show it much quicker.

  20. From this window you can also replace the welcome banner entirely by setting
  21. the 'Replace banner with sprite' option and typing in the file name of the
  22. sprite that you want to appear instead of the banner.  Instead you could
  23. drag a sprite file onto the sprite icon and its file name will automatically
  24. be put in the writable icon.

  26. The sprite will be automatically centred for that screen mode. Errors will
  27. not be reported on start-up and instead the old banner will be displayed
  28. instead.  Errors may be caused by there not being a sprite file or not enough
  29. memory in RMA.
