History of !MathsTest
---------------------
!MathsTest was based on MultTest, the first thing I seriously programmed
(I'd been printing my name on the screen in several different colours for
some time before that, but MultTest was the first thing I spent more than 20
minutes on)
MultTest was basically a very cut down version of !MathsTest - it tested
multiplication tables and printed a certificate if you got full marks.
Version | Additions
=================================================
0.01 | MultTest - tested multiplication tables and gave a certificate if
| you got full marks.
|
1.00 | Addition, subtraction and division tests added. !MathsTest was
| born!
|
1.02 | Whoops! Answers for division had to be correct to 8 significant
| figures. This was corrected.
|
1.08 | Added a full arithmetic test to !MathsTest's functions.
|
1.28 | Finally persuaded an icon to appear on the icon bar. (Phew!) Kept
| a copy of the not-even-remotely multi-tasking version of
| !MathsTest, for some reason my records show that this jumped up to
| version 1.38 at the same time, and received the same upgrades as
| the part multi-tasking version. Don't ask...
|
1.30 | Added fancy 3d templates to multi-tasking (ha, ha.) version.
|
2.70 | BIG overhaul for non-multi tasking version. Menus added, bugs
| fixed, general things I had wanted to do to the program were done.
| This later became version 3.0 as I persuaded it to add itself to
| the icon bar, having failed to alter the !RunImage file of the
| almost-but-not-quite multi-tasking version and keep the program
| running correctly (ie. without hanging the computer)
|
3.60 | Not quite so big overhaul for multi-tasking version. See below for
| what was added/altered
|
3.62 | Finally remembered that RISC OS 3.0 and below not did not support
| 3d templates! Altered templates and run file, now you only get 3d
| templates on a machine with RISC OS 3.10 or higher.
Improvments over version 3.0
----------------------------
Viewing of multiplication tables is now possible.
You can now be tested on a particular times table.
You can change the name in memory.
There is a proper menu system.
You can exit from the menu.
Certificates can now be printed to file for loading into other programs.
An error which caused two stars to "disappear" from the certificate if the
number of letters in the name was odd has been fixed.
A slight problem I overlooked (users of RISC OS v. 3.00 and below cannot use
fancy 3d templates, thanks to Acorn for that piece of information) has been
corrected.
