  4. This simulation helps you to learn the correct way to wire up a plug.
  5. To attach a wire to a terminal, drag the end of the wire to the terminal and
  6. release it.  (Drag means click and hold down the left hand mouse button, then
  7. move the mouse pointer.)  If it gets confusing, you can either drag a wire right
  8. away from the terminals and it will return to its original poition.
  9. Alternatively, you can click on "Reset" and everything will return to its
  10. original position.

  12. Remember to insert the fuse and secure the cable with the cable grip.  This
  13. stops the wires from being pulled out of the terminals.

  15. When everything is prepared, click on the "Ready" icon and a message will appear,
  16. to tell you how you have done.

  18. Notes on the wires
  19. ==================
  20. Brown. This is the live wire, which carries the electricity to the appliance.
  21. A fuse is always connected to this wire so that if there is a surge of power and
  22. the fuse blows, the live wire is disabled and there is no danger of
  23. electrocution.

  25. Blue. This is the neutral wire, which allows the electricity to flow away again.

  27. Green/yellow. This is the earth wire and is connected to the casing of the
  28. appliance. It is a safety connection.  If a live wire comes loose and touches
  29. the casing, the electricity will flow straight to earth instead of electrocuting
  30. anyone who touches the casing.
