- MANUAL
- A reduced version of the full 24 page manual is available free of charge
- from TechSoft, to accompany this demonstration disc. Please send a
- stamped addressed envelope (A5 size).

- RESTRICTIONS
- This demo version is not a full working version of PERSPECTIVES. However,
- we hope that it will give the user sufficient "feel" for the package, to
- be able to assess its capabilities. All drawing functions have been
- disabled, although they still remain as menu options. Some editing, and
- all the visualisation options have been left active. This means that the
- demonstration drawings provided may be loaded, viewed in a variety of ways,
- and edited (in a limited way).
-
-
- TUTORIAL
- This demo version tutorial is intended as a quick guided tour of
- PERSPECTIVES.
-
- 1. Start up PERSPECTIVES by double clicking on the Chair demonstration
- file on the disc. A PERSPECTIVES window will open up with a toolbox
- window superimposed on it. To open up the main window, click on the
- Toggle Size icon with Adjust. (If the main window is opened using
- Select, the Toolbox will be obscured. This is a standard RISC OS
- "feature". The toolbox will still be available and may be restored by
- resizing/moving the main window or by selecting Toolbox from the main
- menu.) The main window will open to show four views, three orthographic
- views and a pictorial view. The Toolbox may now be moved to a suitable
- position by dragging it by its title bar. (If using lower resolution
- screen modes such as mode 12 or 27, the Toolbox may have to obscure part
- of one or more views. Mode 39 is recommended if available.)
-
- 2. Press and hold down Select on the Rotate vertical icon (bottom row,
- second right) on the toolbox. Note the changes to the pictorial view.
- Repeat this procedure using Adjust, again noting the effect. Try the
- effects of Select and Adjust on the Rotate horizontal (bottom row, third
- right), and the Zoom pictorial (bottom row, fourth right) icons.
-
- 3. Open the main menu by clicking Menu. From the View sub-menu choose the
- option Front (XZ Plane). The front view window will be redrawn to fill
- the whole of the application window. From the Zoom sub-menu, use the
- Magnifier to change the scale first to 3:1, then back to 1:1, noting the
- effects. Return to the original view by choosing 1st angle projection
- from the View sub-menu. Click on the eye (Reset pictorial) icon to
- restore the original pictorial view.
-
- 4. Choose the Stereo view icon (red/green glasses) from the toolbar. The
- whole screen will be redrawn with the chair in two colour separation
- stereo. 3D glasses will be required to appreciate the stereo
- effect. Moving the mouse will rotate the object, holding down Menu and
- moving the mouse will zoom the object. To return to the previous screen
- simply click Adjust.
-
- 5. Edit/move some of the vertices in the drawing as follows. Position the
- pointer to the bottom left of any vertex, or group of vertices, in any
- view. Press Select and drag a select box over some vertices. (The
- Select option is permanently enabled in the demo copy.) The vertices
- will be highlighted with blue dots. Position the pointer over any blue
- dot in any orthographic view, press Select and drag to re-position. To
- clear the highlights, click Select with the pointer in a clear space.
