Alajos Str≤bl built the well in 1904 in honour of King Mathias. It recalls a romantic legend of an unfulfilled love between the king and a peasant girl named SzΘp Ilona. At the top of the well the main figures are King Mathias, SzΘp Ilona, and Galeotto the king's historian.
