The statue was erected in 1859 by Lßszl≤ Dunaiszky. In the 1930s it stood on Blaha Lujza Square and it was only moved to the Castle area in the 1960s. Mßrton Lendvai, Sr. was an actor in the heroic phase of the Hungarian theatre and was a member of the old National Theatre.
