The statue of the Pope was built by J≤zsef Dank≤ in 1936 for the 250th anniversary of the reoccupation of Buda. With this the sculptor wanted to pay tribute to the high priest who supported the battles against the Turks. The reliefs on the pedestal represent the events of the reoccupation.
