The octogon shaped semi-domed construction was built in memory of Gⁿl Baba (The Father of Roses) between 1543-48. Gⁿl Baba was a respected Mohammedan dervish who was even considered to be a holy man. The tomb was reconstructed to a Christian chapel in 1689 but it was rebuilt in its original form in 1962. Its inside decoration was donated by Turkey, the Turks in Hungary and by pilgrims.
