The public simply call it the 'Cogway'. This railway was built in 1874. Its first section went up to Szabadsßg Hill and in 1890 it was extended up to SzΘchenyi Hill. The full length of the railway is 3733 m, the height difference is 315 m. In the beginning a steam-engine pushed the trains but it was electrified in 1929. It was again modernized in 1972.
