The church is one of the most interesting architectural monuments which illustrates all the architectural styles between the 12th -18th centuries. First a romanesque church was built here in the 12th century but only its parts can be found there now. In the 14th century it was enriched with early and late gothic elements. In the 16th century the church received two renaissance pastoforiums. Later, the Turks formed it into a mosque which is now reflected in the Mihrab-niche. The facade and the aisle burnt down in 1723 and were rebuilt in baroque style.
